Gigabyte B550 UD AC - Review & Info

All you need to know about this unknown and unsupported Motherboard by Gigabyte.

The Motherboard shown is not the Gigabyte B550 UD AC. The motherboard model is the Gigabyte B365 DS3H LGA. Gigabyte logo is registered to Giga-Byte Technology Co., LTD with all rights reserved.

After purchasing a pre-built computer from IBuyPower.com, I soon realized some issues surrounding the system. This pre-built computer looked terrific and came loaded up with Windows 11 installed. I first started re-installing all software and games that did not save in One Drive. One of those games, in particular, was VALORANT, a popular 5v5 first-person shooter.

With a pre-built computer coming loaded with Windows 11, I assumed that TPM 2.0 was already enabled; it was not to my surprise. VALORANT's anti-cheat, Vanguard, requires TPM 2.0/Secure Boot to be enabled. I booted into the BIOS to allow TPM 2.0; it allowed me to enable said setting but did not enable secure boot under the "System Information" window. After attempting a few more troubleshooting steps, I ended up calling IBuyPower. After a 1.5 hour hold, a very charismatic and intelligent man answered the phone. He knew all about this problem due to a customer calling about it a few months ago (with a Windows 10 System).

This IBuyPower technical support person talked through every possible step but only knew about the Intel baseboard fix. He did not have any knowledge of AMD boards having this issue. He assumed it was a motherboard update issue; however, Gigabyte does not have anything on their website regarding the B550 UD AC board. I fixed an update on the CyberPowerPC.com site under their resources tab.

How to Update the Motherboard

The B550 UD AC typically comes installed with the F1 Y1 update. The update for F3 Y1 is located here at CyberPowerPC.com's website: UPDATE LINK labeled as "MB-478-120 B5550UDACY1.zip".
To update your board, follow these next eight steps:
1. Down the .zip file;
2. Drag the .zip file to your desktop;
3. Extract All of the zipped file onto your desktop;
4. Drag the extracted file to a 32 GB flash drive;
5. Enter the BIOS [F2] of your machine;
6. Go to the Advanced tab;
7. Insert the Flash Drive & Select Q-Flash;
8. Click Update BIOS & Run Update.
Your system will restart, and you can check if the update was successful by hitting the Windows Key and typing "System Information," and looking for "BaseBoard Version."

Getting Secure Boot Enabled

After you have successfully updated your Motherboard, go back into the BIOS [F2], then follow the following 6 steps:
NOTICE: Make sure "Secure Boot" is enabled under the "System" Tab then the "Misc" tab.
1. Go to the Boot tab;
2. Disabled "CSM Support";
3. Go to the "Secure Boot" option near the bottom;
4. Once you are in the "Secure Boot" tab, enable "Secure Boot Enable";
5. Set "Secure Boot Mode" to "Custom" (hit the first yes, then when it asks to "Quit without Saving, hit the "X" in the top right);
After step 5, you should see under "Enabled" Secure Boot Enabled as Active.
6. Save & Exit [F4].

I greatly hope this helps some individuals with secure boot issues with the B550 UD AC Motherboard by Gigabyte. This Motherboard is not found on Gigabyte's website or IBuyPower's website. Don't think you are going crazy if you cannot find any more updates regarding this board; IBuyPower submitted a request to Gigabyte to add a resources section onto their official site for more updates past F3 Y1.
